US President Donald Trump has proposed a plan to solve the decades-old West Asia crisis. This proposal includes America's occupation of Gaza Strip and sending the Palestinians living here or displaced Palestinians to take refuge in neighboring countries Egypt and Jordan.
Apart from this, he has also signed an order to cut funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinians (UNRWA). Trump said that signing the order was very difficult for him. The new executive order will also be very harsh for Iran.
"I strongly believe that the Gaza Strip, which has been a symbol of death and destruction for so many decades, is very bad for the people around it. Particularly the people who live there, it's been an unfortunate place for a long time," Trump said at a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during Netanyahu's US visit.
"We should go to other interested countries with humanitarian hearts. There are many of them who want to do this and build different domains that will be occupied by the 1.8 million Palestinians living in Gaza. This will end the death and destruction and obviously the misfortune of those people," he said.
The US will occupy the Gaza Strip, and we will work with it. We will take charge of it and take responsibility for destroying all dangerous bombs and other weapons on the site. Level the site and fix the destroyed buildings. Carry out an economic development that will provide an unlimited number of jobs and housing for the people of the region.
Acknowledging the novelty of his plan, the US President said, "Do real work, do something different, just can't go back. If you go back, it's going to end the same way it has for 100 years." Trump said, "I hope this ceasefire can be the beginning of a bigger and more lasting peace that will end the bloodshed and the killing forever."
With that goal in mind, my administration has moved quickly to restore confidence in the alliance and rebuild American strength throughout the region, and we have done exactly that. We are a respected nation. I have ended the previous administration's de facto arms embargo on more than $1 billion in military aid to Israel.
I am also pleased to announce that this afternoon, the United States has withdrawn from the anti-Zionist United Nations Human Rights Council and severed ties with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which has been accused of funneling money to Hamas.
According to the order, maximum economic pressure will be created by banning Iran's oil exports. Trump believes that Iran has come close to acquiring nuclear weapons, so sanctions are necessary.
