Union Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Bhutani, along with senior officials from the Centre and various states attending the two-day National Cooperation Conference in Jagdalpur, visited ‘Cafe Pandum’ on Thursday and lauded it as a model of rehabilitation and self-reliance. The cafe is being operated by youth who have shunned violence and returned to the mainstream.
During their interaction with youth, the visiting officials commended their efforts and described the enterprise as an important initiative for promoting sustainable livelihoods and positive social transformation.
During the visit, Bastar Collector Shri Akash Chhikara briefed the delegation on the cafe’s concept, operational framework and ongoing initiatives to improve the livelihoods of families associated with the establishment. He said the venture aims to ensure dignity and financial stability for individuals affected by violence who have joined the mainstream.
The senior officials appreciated the cafe’s overall arrangements, authentic local cuisine, natural decor and warm hospitality. They described it as a vibrant space that reflects the region’s local culture and simplicity. The visiting dignitaries also encouraged the youth running the establishment and extended their best wishes for their future endeavours.
