Therefore, don’t let this ruin your travel plans; just add these food items suggested by Ayurveda and Gut Health Coach Dr Dimple Jangda to your carry bag if you feel bloated or have any kind of discomfort in the abdomen when you are travelling.
*Fennel seeds: The expert explained that fennel seeds are carminative and thus help in peristalsis (wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract) and digestion. The other benefits she listed include–“possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects, low in calories and a good source of vitamin C which protects against cellular damage caused by unstable molecules called free radicals.” She further pointed out that the seeds contain other minerals vital to bone health which include “potassium, magnesium, calcium, and manganese.”
“Manganese is important for enzyme activation, metabolism, cellular protection, bone development, blood sugar regulation, and wound healing,” she said, further suggesting to roast fennels seeds on a dry pan and store them in a small bottle in your purse. “Consume 1 tsp post every meal. This helps prevent burping, bloating, and indigestion,” she added.
*Cardamom: The spice’s natural cooling effect and delicious taste makes it a wonderful mouth freshener that you can have post meals. “It can help lower blood pressure due to its diuretic effect (promotes urination to remove water that builds up in your body, for example around your heart) and is rich in compounds that may fight inflammation,” she said, further pointing out that the seeds have a warm energy which aid in boosting metabolism.
