New Delhi: Many times it happens that even the greatest actor does not fit into the character of a particular film and during the ODI World Cup, this is the situation of fast bowler Mohammed Shami, despite his role being clear, he has to play the role of the team led by Rohit Sharma. There is no place in the final eleven.

Shardul Thakur, who has bowled a total of eight overs in two matches so far, is playing the role of the fourth fast bowler on a flat pitch and if the pitch like Chennai is helpful for spinners, then R will be the third spinner along with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. Ashwin is getting a place in the playing eleven. This time there is more clarity in batting also, whereas in 2019, number four had become 'musical chairs'. If Shreyas Iyer remains fit, he is the team's first choice at this number.

Former chairman of selection committee MSK Prasad told PTI, “Their strategy is to play according to the conditions and so far it has been successful. Shami will get a place only if he wants to rotate Siraj. He said, “It is clear now which player has to take whose place. If needed, Suryakumar will replace Shreyas and Ishan Kishan will replace Shubman Gill. If the pitch is flat then Shardul will play and Ashwin will come in his place on the turning wicket.

As far as Shami is concerned, he may get a chance in the last matches of the league stage. India has to play its last match in the league stage against Netherlands on November 12.
