Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited investors and businessmen to join the G-20's new India Middle East Europe Corridor (IMEC), describing it as capable of rejuvenating the maritime industry around the world.

Mr Modi addressed the event after inaugurating the third edition of the Global Maritime India Conference held in Mumbai today via video link from New Delhi. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal etc. were present in this program.

The Prime Minister also released 'Amrit Kaal Vision 2047', a blueprint for the Indian Ocean Blue Economy. In line with this plan, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 23 thousand crores which are in line with 'Amrit Kaal Vision 2047' for the Indian Ocean Blue Economy.

Shri Modi also laid the foundation stone of Tuna Tekra All Weather Deep Draft Terminal to be constructed at Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat at a cost of more than Rs 4.5 thousand crore. This state-of-the-art greenfield terminal will be developed through Public-Private Partnership (PPP). This terminal is likely to emerge as an international trade hub.

The terminal will handle future generation vessels of more than 18 thousand TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), and will act as a gateway for Indian trade through the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). .
