New Delhi: The war continues between Palestinian terrorist group Hamas and Israel. A first charter flight carrying 212 Indians wishing to leave Israel took off from Israel's Ben Gurion Airport on Thursday and landed at Delhi airport on Friday morning.
212 Indian citizens were brought to Delhi from Israel at 5.50 am today by a special plane under Operation Ajay by the Central Government. At present, about 20,000 Indians are likely to be stranded in Israel and the Government of India has started bringing them back home safely under Operation Ajay.
Earlier, in the weekly press briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday, spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that the entire focus of the Indian government is on bringing back the Indians stranded in Israel. He said Indians present there who want to return have been asked to register at the Indian Embassy. About twenty thousand Indians are stranded in Israel.
Responding to a question, Mr Bagchi said the operation would be based on demand from Indians wanting to come to Ajay. At present charter flights are being operated. But if the need is felt in future, we have all the options. The role of the Indian Air Force in the operation cannot be ruled out.
