Delhi: Let us tell you that during Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky's address in the Parliament of Canada last week, a person who fought on behalf of the Nazis was honoured. This incident was criticized all over the world and ultimately the Speaker of the Canadian Parliament had to resign. The seriousness of the matter can be gauged from the fact that Trudeau had to apologize on this issue.
Trudeau said the Speaker of the House of Commons, the lower house of Commons, 'took sole responsibility' for inviting the man and honoring him in Parliament. He also said that even though it happened by mistake, it caused embarrassment to Parliament and Canada. The Speaker of the House of Commons resigned from the post on Tuesday. Before leaving the House of Commons, Trudeau said, 'All those present in the House on Friday deeply regret the fact that they gave this person a standing ovation while we were completely unaware of the entire matter.'
Justin Trudeau said, 'This is an insult to the millions of people who died in that genocide and is extremely sad and painful for the Jewish people.' He once again apologized in Parliament for this incident. Speaker Anthony Rota spoke about 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka immediately after Ukrainian President Zelensky's address to the House of Commons on Friday. After this, Canadian MPs gave Hunka a standing ovation. Rota described Hunka as a 'war hero' who fought for the First Ukrainian Division.
