New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Parliament has to work together on a bigger canvas in the next 25 years of the Amrit Kaal and accelerate the all-round progress of the country by improving policies and programs as per the aspirations of the people.
The Prime Minister said that the biggest priority of the Parliament should be to make new laws that fulfill the aspirations of the people and abolish the outdated laws. He said that India is currently growing at the fastest pace in the world and is on the verge of becoming the third largest economy. The whole world is watching us with expectation. He said that unbalanced development cannot give prosperity, hence there is a need to move forward with unity towards all-round development.
On Tuesday, before the commencement of the proceedings in the new Parliament House, Shri Modi, while addressing the special joint session of both the Houses held in the Central Hall of the Old Parliament House, proposed to name the old Parliament House as 'Samvidhan Sadan' and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha was present in the ceremony. Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar were also requested to take action on this proposal.
He said, today we are going to bid farewell from here and sit in the new building of Parliament and it is very auspicious that we are sitting there on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. We all are fortunate that today India is at a height of expectations which might not have been there even in the last one thousand years. We are getting up from here and going to the new Parliament House with the resolve and determination to build a developed nation.
This moment is emotional but also inspires to move forward on duty. The Constituent Assembly will continue to give us direction and remind us of those great personalities who were members of the Constituent Assembly and who gave us our Constitution.
Shri Modi said that the need of the hour is to fulfill the resolve of a self-reliant India and parties should not come in the way. For this only heart is needed and that heart is needed only for the country. We have to carry out reforms keeping in mind the aspirations of every Indian. People's aspirations should be at the forefront of our thinking while taking decisions.
We have to make a self-reliant India in Amritkal. Amidst the new expectations, it is the highest responsibility of the Parliament to make new laws and repeal the outdated laws to fulfill the public aspirations.
