Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the preparations for UP Green Hydrogen Policy-2023 with UPNEDA officials to encourage clean and green energy production sources in the state in view of global warming and climate change. In the meeting, CM Yogi instructed the officials to prepare an effective draft by amending the draft of the new green hydrogen policy.

Besides, instructions were also given to consult the stakeholders working in this sector, so that investors and users can get maximum benefits under the policy. The Chief Minister said in the meeting that green hydrogen, being a clean energy and industrial fuel, would prove helpful in achieving the goal of net zero. In such a situation, the department should prepare an effective policy after studying the policy of the Government of India deeply regarding the green hydrogen policy. He said that water plays an important role in the production of green hydrogen. There are a lot of rivers in Uttar Pradesh.

We can take advantage of this and become the largest producer of green hydrogen in the country. To this end, he directed the department to coordinate with the irrigation department to establish water reserves near the state's large and small rivers and use rainwater to produce green hydrogen. In addition, it is directed to encourage businesses engaged in green hydrogen energy with maximum incentives.
