Delhi: The first match of the three-match T20 series to be played between India and Ireland was played at The Village Ground in Dublin. India won the rain-curtailed match by 2 runs with the help of Duckworth-Lewis method. Batting first after losing the toss, Ireland scored 139 runs losing 7 wickets while batting first. In response to which India scored 47 runs losing two wickets in 6.5 overs. Then it started raining. India was 2 runs ahead of par score at this time. Due to which the umpires declared him won under the Duckworth-Lewis rule when the match was cancelled.

Chasing a target of 140, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rituraj Gaikwad got India off to a good start. The two batsmen shared a 46-run partnership in 38 balls, but Craig Young dismissed Yashasvi, who scored 24 runs in the first 23 balls, and Tilak Verma (0) in his very first over. Gaikwad was on 19 off 16 balls and Sanju Samson was unbeaten on 1 when play was stopped due to rain. Further play could not take place and India won. In this match, two fast bowlers made a great comeback for India. Jasprit Bumrah played a match for India after 11 months and took two wickets in the very first over. He was also adjudged player of the match. At the same time, the famous Krishna may have been playing the first T20 international match of his career, but after his brilliant performance in ODIs, everyone was eyeing his comeback and he also performed brilliantly by taking two wickets. Both the fast bowlers were returning to the field after surgery and both performed brilliantly.
