Islam came into existence only 1,500 years ago while Hinduism is very old.

Jammu: DPAP President Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the name of Islam came to our country 1500 years ago, earlier all were Hindus. No one is an outsider in India. Muslims have also converted from Hindus. Kashmir Valley is an example of this where most Kashmiri Pandits have adopted Islam. All were Kashmiri Pandits. Only Kashmiri Pandits have become Muslims. Everyone is born in this religion. Together we have made a home. Muslims, Rajputs, Gurjars, Kashmiri Pandits all have to build a house together. Advocating not to use religion for political gains, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that whoever takes refuge in religion in politics is weak.

Ghulam Nabi Azad said that when Hindus die, their last rites are performed. “They are burnt at different places. His ashes are thrown into the river which gets water and we drink that water,'' he said. Who sees later that there are his burnt ashes in the water? People drink that water,'' the DPAP leader said. Ghulam Nabi Azad said, similarly the flesh and bones of Muslims become a part of the soil of the country. “They also become part of this land. Their flesh, their bones become part of the soil of Mother India. Both Hindus and Muslims get absorbed in this land. What is the difference between them?"
