NEW DELHI: The Congress on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of obstructing Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge from speaking in the Rajya Sabha after external affairs minister Jaishankar's statement on development on India's foreign policy.
Speaking of an "update" on foreign policy, Jaishankar told the House that India had prioritized its commitments to its neighbours, outlining significant progress in bilateral relations under Prime Minister Modi.
Jaishankar criticized opposition interference in his speech, saying: "If you call yourself 'India' but are not willing to listen to India's national interests, what kind of India are you?" If you cannot respect the president,Vice President Prime Minister, if you won’t allow the external affairs minister to make a statement in Parliament, then it’s a very sorry state of affairs.”
The full name of "INDIA" is "Indian National Alliance for Inclusive Development". Currently, there are 26 opposition parties.
Earlier, Indian Union opposition lawmakers arrived in Parliament dressed in black to protest violence in the state of Manipur.
