Khyber: In Pakistan, terrorists attacked an official compound in Bara and a police post near Peshawar within a span of a few hours. In which five policemen were killed and 12 people were injured. The injured included nine employees and three civilians. Officials said the two suicide bombers were stopped by policemen at the entrance of the tehsil headquarters complex and police station adjacent to Bada Bazar around 11 am on Thursday. After which an encounter started between the police and the terrorists. In which one attacker was killed, while the other blew himself up. The explosion caused a portion of the building to collapse. Three policemen were killed and ten people, including three civilians, were injured in the building collapse.

DPO Saleem Abbasi told the media that after receiving intelligence about a possible attack, the police was on high alert and acted according to plan, thereby averting a huge tragedy in the area. He said that the complex is usually visited by a large number of people, but due to the tight security arrangements made on the basis of intelligence inputs of a possible attack, many lives were saved. Police said a car has been seized. It is believed that the attackers may have used this car to reach the attack site.
