Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a clear warning that if Ukraine uses cluster bombs, Russia will not hold back from using them. In fact, the US announced a new military aid package for Ukraine on July 7, in which the Biden administration admitted to giving banned cluster bombs to Ukraine. Since then, the tension between the two countries seems to be increasing. In a government interview, Putin clarified his intentions and said that Russia also has a sufficient stock of cluster bombs. If such weapons are used against Russian forces in Ukraine, we will not refrain from using them either.
Putin said in his interview that if the need arises, Moscow will respond in the same way it should. During this, he insisted that we have not used them yet. If it is used against us, we reserve the right to retaliate. By the way, Putin also said that he considers the use of cluster bombs a crime. He claimed that despite facing the problem of ammunition, Russia never used them. By the way, Amnesty International' and 'Human Rights Watch' have alleged that both Moscow and Kiev have used cluster weapons.
What are cluster bombs?
The cluster bomb is designed for an explosive submunition weighing less than 20 kg. They are used to indiscriminately injure or kill humans over a large area and to destroy infrastructure such as runways, railways or power transmission lines. It consists of several bombs at once, which do not explode immediately after falling. But they lie on the ground, and can explode at any time. These are difficult to detect and pose a threat to civilian populations over a long period of time. This bomb has been banned by 123 countries of the world, although they neither include America nor Ukraine nor Russia.
