Indian players honored for winning medals in Italy's Special Olympics Winter Games

   New Delhi   30 players represented India in the Special Olympics Winter Games held in Italy. India won a total of 33 medals in this tournament. The medal winning players were felicitated at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Delhi on Monday.

Special Olympics Bharat Chairman Mallika Nadda said, Indian players have performed brilliantly in Special Olympics. We are all feeling proud. 30 Indian players participating in Special Olympics have won a total of 33 medals. Everyone has made the country proud by winning 8 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. 102 countries participated in the tournament, in which India's performance has been very good and we hope that in the coming times India will participate in such games with great enthusiasm.

Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse said, the players have performed well in the Winter Games in Italy and have brought medals for our country. All the athletes are role models for our country. There is a class in the society which people have a different view of, but through their hard work they have increased the honor of their family and brought glory to the country. We will give our athletes whatever help we can get from the government. The Government of India is completely ahead in helping the players.

Let us tell you that Special Olympics India President Dr. Mallika Nadda, Union Minister of State for Sports Nikhil Khadse and officials associated with the Sports Ministry were present in the program. During this, these people honored the players who brought glory to India by going to Italy in the Special Olympics Winter Games and wished them a bright future and also gave them cheques.

Let us tell you that Special Olympics India is a national sports federation for the development of intellectually and differently abled players recognized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth. It is recognized by the Special Olympics International Committee to conduct sports and development programs across India. Special Olympics is a global inclusion movement that uses sports, health, education and leadership programs every day around the world to empower and eliminate discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities.
